A Fun and Hilarious Tale about a Young Teen’s Sightings of Santa and His Friends

Thirteen-year-old Steve and his nine-year-old sister, Brittany, have everything they could ever want or need, being raised in an upscale Florida neighborhood.

All that changes when their parents decide they’ve had enough of their children’s arguing and disregard for family or valuing what’s really important.  Tired of the dysfunction, they decide to change all that—in a big way—and move the family to a little known remote island in the middle of the Caribbean called Holiday Island to live with their grandmother.  Her modest home sits amidst the lush island and Steve and Brittany get a big wake-up call: life can and does exist without material trappings!

Adding to the stress of a scaled-down life and being an adolescent in a new school, Steve begins to see and hear what he first believes to be strange hallucinations.  He sees Santa, along with the Mrs. in a red, furry bikini, water skiing.  If that’s not enough, Cupid shows up to wreak havoc with Steve’s new love interest every time he looks at her and a wicked Leprechaun named Larry torments him in school by changing his locker combinations!  Adding to all the drama is a jealous Jack-o-Lantern that manipulates Steve into a blackmail/kidnap scheme that just may have the Christmas holiday becoming a thing of the past, and his new love interest sleeping through her prom, thanks to the Sandman.

Can Steve save Christmas?  Can he make peace with the holiday icons in order to save Santa?  What’s more, how many more holiday icons will appear on the tiny island and can he learn to live with his newfound gift of seeing imaginary holiday figures no one else can?  Steve will have to figure it all out on his own when Mom and Dad are called away on a family emergency, leaving Steve to determine who or what is really important.

This immensely entertaining tale expertly captures the importance of family values.  Ranelli uses humor, a love of the holidays, and a few other invisible childhood friends to create Steve’s special world.  Ranelli’s imaginative flair will have the entire family eagerly anticipating what happens next on Holiday Island.
