After a few years selling on line through Trade Me and another couple researching the idea to offer an online service to larger woman who demand high quality fashion, Shannon’s new business is set to revolutionise the way plus size women shop.
“As I Am Fashion came about because I wanted to let women know they were beautiful, curvaceous and stylish. It’s about promoting curvy confidence in a plus size world,” Shannon says.
Steering away from the dreaded size charts Shannon has instead implemented a measurement chart that veers away from the stigma of being a certain size.
“Women all too often get hung up on what size they are, this is a much more user friendly way.”
The website shows models that are plus size demonstrating that size 16 plus women look great in clothes that fit properly.
“It’s about using classic styling that suits your body shape and shows it off.”
Fabrics used are poplin, silk/polyester, chiffon and spandex, all chosen to drape, flatter and highlight curves while maintaining comfort and good looks.
Prices are around $95.00 for shirts and $89.90 for skirts. There is also a selection of American design Igigi to compliment Shannon’s range.
Fans of the range can join up to receive newsletter and become part of the website by sending in photos of themselves wearing the clothes.
“Being part of the photo share page is a great way to celebrate the fact that women can look fabulous whatever their size and other women can see non models wearing the range.”
