During his time at Marathon Oil, Aves worked domestically and internationally as a process engineer. He was also a plant engineer for Indian Basin, located in New Mexico, and a facility in Equatorial Guinea that processed 900 million cubic feet of natural gas and 600,000 barrels of oil. Aves was involved in Marathon’s proprietary and innovative natural gas and fuels research teams at the JLM Pilot facility in San Antonio, Texas. Oil and Gas Journal published an article from Aves’ on mol sieve removing mercaptan from the gas stream. Aves developed a patent-pending hydroprocessing feedstock flexible technology to produce renewable diesel from a standalone facility. Aves holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Cetane Energy LLC, the first and only facility in the United States producing renewable diesel from a standalone facility, is located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Cetane Energy’s mission is “to produce renewable energy solutions through innovative processes and technologies for the benefit of a whole society by reducing the nation’s dependency on foreign oil and creating an economy to sustain our own needs.” Cetane Energy is unique to the renewable energies market in that it offers the highest quality renewable diesel and the lowest cost producer, specifically, by developing a commercialized process to convert vegetable oils and waste oils to renewable diesel fuel. Cetane Energy successes have appeared in several publications, including Hart Energy and Achieving Business Excellence in February and in the upcoming September issue for Biodiesel Magazine.
