Follow on Google News | Updated Lying Workshop Launches Sept. 1The updated version of our popular workshop gives a detailed look at the types of lying and why children lie, then gives workable solutions parents can use.
Lying is a frustrating behavior for resource parents to deal with. In this workshop, Dr. Richard Delaney identifies six possible causes for lying and then works with viewers to understand the source of lying in a 16-year-old boy. Then Dr. Delaney and his teaching assistants guide viewers through the process of working together to develop an action plan for the boy’s foster parents, with concrete steps for coping with and curbing the boy’s chronic lying. Dr. Rick Delaney is the clinical director of a community-based residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed children in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. For many years, Dr. Delaney has served as a consultant to Casey Family Programs and other foster care and adoption agencies across the county. He is the author or co-author of several books in the area of foster care and adoption, including Fostering Changes: Myth, Meaning, and Magic Bullets in Attachment Theory and Troubled Transplants: The workshops bring together parents from all over the world to work together to solve a challenging issue they all struggle with. After the initial introductions and videos, workshop participants study a case and through interactive exercises and discussion boards develop an action plan for the case family. Advanced Parenting Workshops begin the first Tuesday of each month and span a three-week period. Completing the class yields 6 training hours and costs $30. FPC training units are accepted by over 1,000 agencies and organizations throughout the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.
