In the 1980's, at the height of farm foreclosures in America, artist, Roy E. Burgess partnered with "Successful Farming" magazine to produce and sell posters of his paintings of Midwest farmers. The money raised provided agriculture scholarships for young people in America during the farm crisis. Iowa Public Television also reproduced a painting by Burgess for their fund raising one year.
5 years later, living in Kansas City, Burgess created a series of paintings called,"STREETS"
For a couple of years, Burgess lived at a Benedictine Monastery as artist in residence. He worked on a series about the "Dakota" tribe of the legendary Sioux Indian Nation. The monks "giving" lifestyle instilled in Burgess the belief that he should continue to create, "Art That Gives".
The some what reclusive artist now lives in Hawai'i islands painting his latest series called;

The website allows Burgess to sell his artwork directly to people and raise money for charities.
Just like previous decades, the depressed economy has caused major hardships for families in America. On the beautiful islands of Hawai'i, there are many "out of work" people facing foreclosure, homelessness and hunger in paradise. A large number of families need help during this difficult time on the islands.
Once again, Burgess would like to help by selling limited edition prints of his work. He will reproduce selected paintings from his 'OHANA series into giclees on canvas. A giclee print (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a high quality archival, fine art print.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the giclees will be given to non-profits serving the people of Hawai'i.
