A struggling economy can impact many mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. However, it can also make access to therapeutic support more challenging. Therefore, Affinity Mental Health is offering low-cost group therapy options designed to increase the ability for Seattle area residents to receive support.
Therapy groups are conveniently located in downtown Seattle, are 90-minutes in length, and only cost $20 p/session. In addition, Affinity Mental Health will accept 20 Dibspace.com credits (20 dibits) instead of dollars. Dibspace.com is a new Seattle-based bartering website that provides 100 free dibits to sign-up. These dibits can be applied towards attending these therapy groups. In addition, unemployed or under-employed group members can also choose to provide services (gardening, carpentry, housecleaning, etc...) to other participants of Dibspace.com to gain more dibits. This has already been a great success with Affinity Mental Health's individual practice in serving the needs of Seattlites who are experiencing economic hardships.
Affinity Mental Health is currently accepting registrations for the following therapy groups:
- Anxiety Group Therapy (including OCD, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety, Phobias, and Panic)
- Depression Group Therapy (including Chronic/Dysthymia, Major Depression, Adjustment Disorder with Depression)
- Grief & Loss Group Therapy/Bereavement Group Therapy
- Life Transitions Group Therapy
- Adult Shyness Group Therapy/Social Anxiety Group Therapy
- Bipolar Disorder Group Therapy
- Pregnancy Group Therapy
- Postpartum Group Therapy
These sessions are held on one weeknight per/week for six weeks. Group members can choose if they would like to continue thereafter. Each group is facilitated by a Masters-level counselor, and consists of a minimum of 4 members and a maximum of 7 members.
