Intelagrid Incorporated, a leading provider of advanced metering and smart grid infrastructure based on open standards announced today that it has been selected by Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) to provide advanced networking products and services to serve its 16,000 residents in Massachusetts.
Concord will initially focus on using Intelagrid’s technology to support load management, advanced metering and customer portal applications. In addition, Intelagrid provides ecoNet™, a open, secure broadband platform that will enable Concord to realize additional operational and environmental benefits in the future.
Under the agreement, Intelagrid will provide network infrastructure, network devices, operating software and a variety of services in support of Concord’s efforts.
As a provider of electricity to approximately 16,000 consumers in a service territory of 25 square miles, CMLP is a leader in environmental excellence, energy efficiency and enabling technologies. In 2003, CMLP unveiled a green power option that allowed their customers to purchase energy blocks of hydropower. Energy efficiency programs are the fastest, most cost-effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat global climate change.
“We consider this implementation the first step in providing our customers with the right tools and information to make smart energy decisions," added Dan Sack, Director of Utilities. "Everyone wants to do something about energy savings, and with Intelagrid’s help we have the tools to make a real difference."
“The Town of Concord is a forward-thinking utility provider,” said Costa Apostolakis, founder and CEO of Intelagrid. “Intelagrid is pleased to work with CMLP as it launches this very important energy initiative.”
