SR-22 Insurance: Don’t Get Stuck Having To Use It!

New InsuranceAgents.com articles discusses what SR-22 is, what it implies, and how to avoid it.

Sept. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Chicago (InsuranceAgents.com) – SR-22 is a type of auto insurance that proves financial responsibility to a driver who has recently been caught driving without car insurance. If you are caught driving without the legal limit of auto insurance, you will be required to use SR-22 for a probation period determined by the court.

In a recent article posted by InsuranceAgents.com, “Getting Acquainted With SR-22 Insurance,” they discuss how to require SR-22 insurance if you need to do so and other circumstances that could lead to acquiring SR-22 insurance. “You can find SR-22 insurance through most insurance providers. If you require SR-22 insurance then you should get in contact with an auto insurance agent about their offerings,” states the article, “Some companies will file the SR-22 insurance form for you at your state’s DMV. The minimum requirements that your SR-22 insurance must meet vary from state to state with some states also charging filing fee.” You may also need SR-22 insurance if you are ever cited for a DUI, DWI, driving with a suspended license, repeat traffic violations or are ever at fault of an accident while not being insured.

Filing for SR-22 insurance is not easy and if you are required to do so, it can be quite a hassle to stay on top of. To avoid having to be insured with SR-22 auto insurance, its best to make sure you are legally insured with your car. Every state has its own minimum requirements so check with your insurance agent to make sure you are not driving underinsured.
