Nicolas Mähler-Besse Promoted to General Manager
of Tonnellerie Radoux USA, Inc
Bordeaux, France (August 21, 2009) — Nicolas Mähler-Besse of Tonnellerie Radoux has been promoted to general manager of its Sonoma County cooperage, Tonnellerie Radoux USA Inc, after serving five years as the company’s vice president of sales and marketing.
Mähler-Besse has over 11 years of winery and cooperage experience, and is a member of an established wine négociant family from Bordeaux that co-owns Château Palmer in Margaux.
“This move places one of our most knowledgeable manager in our largest market,” said Christian Liagre, president of Tonnellerie Radoux. “US wineries will benefit from his vast experience with the latest barrel technology.”
Mähler-Besse was initially hired by Tonnellerie Radoux to sell barrels in Burgundy, but was promoted to “export director” after only two years, traveling to all wine regions of the world to share his technical knowledge with winemakers interested in finding a style and toast of barrel that would best complement each of their wines. In 2004, he was given the responsibility of managing Radoux’s entire sales and marketing program out of the company’s Bordeaux office.
Mähler-Besse lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and daughter.
