VITRONIC’s LIDAR speed enforcement system PoliScanspeed has been granted official approval in Slovenia. Both stationary and mobile systems can be used, providing non-invasive speed enforcement on 3 lanes of traffic. Tailgating drivers, lane changes and overtaking vehicles can all be fully enforced. Together with partner company SG Biro d.o.o., VITRONIC is continuing its expansion into the Eastern European market.

The Slovenian Institute of Metrology has approved the laser-based speed enforcement system PoliScanspeed. Both stationary and mobile versions can now be used on high speed roads in Slovenia. With these two systems VITRONIC has a suitable solution for every surveillance scenario: The stationary version of PoliScanspeed is installed in an elegant vandalism-proof aluminum housing. Each independent segment can be aligned to monitor traffic in any direction. The mobile version can be mounted on a tripod or installed in a police vehicle. Thanks to its extreme accuracy and reliability, the system is certified for unattended use. PoliScanspeed has already been given approval in Lithuania, Romania, Estonia and Hungary. VITRONIC’s partner company SG Biro d.o.o. will be providing sales, service and maintenance support in Slovenia.

At the core of both systems lies unique laser technology. In contrast to many existing technologies in operation in Slovenia and neighboring countries, this allows multiple vehicles to be tracked and captured over multiple lanes. Vehicle-specific speed detection allows even drivers traveling parallel or tailgating other vehicles to be enforced. Another advantage for system operators is that in-road equipment such as sensors and loops is not required. This saves on the associated installation and maintenance time and costs.

If a driver is caught speeding a digital photograph of the vehicle is stored along with additional case data. This case file is digitally signed to prevent data manipulation and encryption allows secure transfer to the back office for further processing.
