Success is Tweet at Majestic Wine

Majestic Wine are positioning themselves as a brand intent on breaking down some of the ‘stuffy barriers’ that often surround the wine industry, by engaging with their customers through new social media and customer wine reviews.

Majestic Wine, the UK’s biggest and best known online wine merchants are positioning themselves as a brand intent on breaking down some of the ‘stuffy barriers’ that often surround the wine industry, by engaging with their customers through new social media and customer wine reviews.

Majestic’s online customer services and social media assistant manager, Amy Hetherington said, “Wine is a fascinating subject and we're trying to give a voice to anyone that wants to be heard.  Our wine knowledge is second to none and we’d love to share that knowledge with as many people as possible. However, it’s just as important to us, to hear what they think too. We enjoy discussing and hearing other people’s views on the world of wine and we’re hoping to encourage those wine conversations further.”

To this end, the team at Majestic launched a product review section to their already extensive website back in March that allows for user interaction and debate.  So far this facility has proved extremely successful in welcoming those who previously felt excluded by sites which assume some level of previous wine knowledge from their customers.

The reviews section of the site not only allows customers to share their views on products they have previously tried, but also allows them to engage with each other on a social level about which wines are their favorites, with the ‘wine favorites’ option in the user area of the website.  This is also a handy tool for those who have purchased a wine in the past and would like to be reminded of its name for future purchases.

Miss Hetherington added, “Everyone has a wine favourite from French wine to Australian wine, and we want to hear their thoughts and encourage them to share with others.  Whether their feedback is good or bad, here at Majestic we encourage some friendly debating and this helps us to develop the products and services we offer in line with customer expectation.”

To increase their level of interaction, Majestic is utilising many of the new social media sites to talk with wine lovers in new ways.  

Miss Hetherington continued, “No longer does the dialogue have to be in a single direction, now we can have a Twitter wine conversation with anyone who wants to engage with us. We think it’s an exciting time for wine lovers, as they now have a voice and we want to listen.

“We want to create an online wine community where everyone feels welcome to discuss their passions no matter what their level of wine knowledge. We have always been at the forefront of the wine industry and with our new social media initiatives, we are now at the heart of the online wine community too!”
