Aug. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- Ready to “satisfy” India's new emerging appetite for power bikes and flashy bikes, two international  giants are ready to meet burgeoning demand through a slew of models, ready to hit Indian roads, in 6 to 7 months.

Some of the bikes which are in pipeline are from Yamaha, Suzuki, KTM and Kawasaki, which have capability of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/hr in less than 3 seconds. Honda has also make a promise of further launching, if demand will continue to increase.

Though price of such bikes is between Rs.10-12 lakh(putting in equal to the category of executive sedans), demand is showing upward trend, pegging its market to reach at 600-700 units in a year. Companies are showing their keenness in unveiling their technological and design prowess in Indian marketplace. Mr. Atul Gupta, VP of marketing and sales, Suzuki Motorcycle and Scooter India, asserted that “We want to complete the range of big bikes in India and will launch the Gixxer range before the end of the year.”

In next 3 or 4 months, Suzuki will launch a GSXR model, also called Gixxer). Its cost will be kept at par with its Hayabusa, present fastest bike. Both Hayabusa and Intruder have their cost at Rs.12.5 lakh in Delhi, national capital of India. Over 100 units of both models have already been sold out so far in the year and the company is quite assured that this figure will reach at 200 before the end of 2009.

By the end of this year, Yamaha is also planning to launch YZF R1(2009 edition), which is titled as world's most popular super bike. In coming months, the company will come up with more completely built unit(CBUs) or direct imports) launches.  Mr. Sanjy Tripathi, department head, product planning and strategy of India Yamaha Motor remarked, “Looking at the success of the two superbikes in our line up, we are planning to add more models that would complete our product portfolio”.

Meanwhile, Pune Based Bajaj Auto is also gearing up for launching super bike models from partners Kawasaki Heavy Industries and KTM Power Support AG. Bajaj Auto is committed towards launching of its models which include Sports Roadster, Ninja ZX-6R, Z1000 and the Vulcan Cruiser from the Kawasaki Stable and the KTM stable next year. All its models will be imported and they will be sold through Bajaj's specialty showrooms.

Honda, Japanese manufacturer, sells 2 super bikes in India-the CB 1000 and the CBR 1000. According to the official issued by company, “The response has been very encouraging for our two flagship brands. If consumer demand continues to grow like this, then we will definitely consider more launch in CBUs.”
