Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard (22-2-2 KOs 13) will be packing his bags and boarding a plan headed to Panama, the same country he won his WBA Fedelatin Middleweight Title, for a 10 round title defense against Wilmer "The Nicaraguan Nightmare" Gonzalez (16-8-1 KOs 10) on Friday, October 9.
The boxing card, promoted by Hector Villarreal's Premium Boxing Promotions, should also feature Jamaican featherweight sensation Nicholas Walters (12-0-0 KOs 10) and Haitian light welterweight standout Evans Pierre (10-0-0 KOs 9).
Edouard, who has received favorable reviews for his first stint as a commentator on Square Ring's pay per view card Hook City, went on to say "I have never really defended a title. Sure I have been blessed to win a few of the minor titles but I haven't defended one. I feel it is a good thing to defend one now and gain that perspective now so if and when I win a major title later I know what it is to defend it."
When questioned about the upcoming Square Ring card heading to Australia where Roy Jones Junior will face off with Danny Green on or about November 21 he expressed his desires, "I don't want to look too far ahead because I still have Gonzalez to contend with in September but I absolutely want to be a part of that show."
"I would love to mix it up with newly crowned IBO Champion Anthony Mundine. He is definitely formidable. His most recent loss, and it has been a while since he lost, was against Mikkel Kessler and his most recent win was a split decision over highly touted Daniel Geale so beating him puts me in a much higher category."
"Watching Roy Saturday night inspired me! I told the man with the best left hook in the game (Roy Jones) that I wanted Mundine on November 21 so hopefully he can work his magic but if I don't get Mundine I'm sure Square Ring will cook up something just as tasty."
