Kathryn Barnett School of Dance
The Starbound National Talent Competition is the largest dance competition in America. Students from the Kathryn Barnett School of Dance participated in this year’s competition in Atlantic City.
Soloists Jaimie Berube (Little Silver) and Bailie Stypa (Rumson) won sixth place and tenth place Top High Score Junior Soloists. Their dances beat over 60 junior soloists for these outstanding awards.
Soloists from the Senior Division included, Kimberly White, Meghan Dougherty, Cecilia Muscarella, Jillian Haslett, and Devin Stypa who delighted the judges with their dance and acting skills.
Group numbers from the Kathryn Barnett Traveling Troupe scored extremely well with their Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical Dances. Lyrical Dance “Angels” and “Do I Make You Proud”, bringing audience members to tears with their emotional depiction of the dance themes.
In the 2008-2009 school year, the Kathryn Barnett School of Dance celebrated 25 years of dance. The Kathryn Barnett School of Dance is dedicated to teaching life skills and appreciation of the arts through dance. At the Studio, “It’s All About the Kids!” with children learning dance and developing inner character and strengths through their experience with the performing arts.

Dance instruction includes Classical Ballet, Modern, Pointe, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Modern & Musical Theater, Pre-school thru Adult Classes and Competition Team, and Ballet Technique Classes Open to ALL Students. Studio opens for the season on September 14, 2009.
