The trailer for the Beach Shorts Film Fest was posted to a forum of the site, The Stand Up Zone (http://www.standupzone.com), and has since garnered numerous inquires to Soul Surf Media about the project. The video was placed in the forum by an eager fan; but it wasn’t supposed to be posted publically by Soul Surf Media.
“We posted it to our Vimeo account to share the edit with some friends next thing I know, my phone is ringing and I am getting emails from all over about this insane video we made.” commented Chris Aguilar.
The Beach Shorts Film Festival was founded by South Bay resident, Barry Hatchett as a venue for amateur surf filmmakers to showcase their work. Each film is under twelve minutes and features work produced solely by the entrant. Some of the shorts were shot in locations both in the South Bay and around the globe. The festival also features numerous prizes and raffles for surfboards, surf shop gift cards and other surf related items.
Soul Surf Media is an official sponsor of this year’s festival taking place in at the Hermosa Beach Civic Auditorium on August 22, 2009 at 7pm with tickets available at the door.
