New Book and Postcards Capture History of Great Adventure

Aug. 19, 2009 - PRLog -- The world’s largest theme park, Six Flags Great Adventure measures 2,200 acres and was built to rival Walt Disney World in scope.  Developed by Warner LeRoy, Great Adventure boats some of the world’s largest attractions.  

In a new book by Arcadia Publishing, Great Adventure historians Thomas Benton and Harry Applegate use over 200 vintage photographs to take readers on a nostalgic ride down memory lane.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Six Flags Friends, the charitable arm of Six Flags Theme Parks.

Harry Applegate and Thomas Benton are longtime fans of the park and have been season pass holders for more than 30 years, as well as former park employees. Together they launched the GreatAdventureHistory.com Web site, where they have amassed a large collection of historical photographs and information about Six Flags Great Adventure to share with millions of park fans.
