From September, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery will be launching new art workshops for children of all ages.
Following the success of the summer holiday kids’ workshops, the Gallery has announced it’s starting a series of creative kids’ classes every Saturday morning from 5 September, right up until Christmas.
The classes will be split into 3 age groups, 4-6 years, 7-10 years and 11-14 years, and will take place each month at the Gallery from 10am to 1pm.
Each age group will be required to attend on a different Saturday so children will be able to learn alongside others around the same age and ability.
Each class will look at using different techniques and styles and will give children the opportunity to learn new skills in a variety of ways, from the more traditional methods such as painting and drawing, to new alternative and diverse methods.
No experience is necessary and each class will be tailored to the abilities of the children.
To book a place for your child, simply call the Gallery Reception on 01792 516900. Booking is essential as places will fill quickly.
At the end of each month, the Gallery will also be inviting guest artists to attend and lead one-off workshops based on their own creative skills and experience.
From October, there will be something for the grown-ups too as adult art classes will take place on Saturday afternoons. Look out for more information over the coming weeks.
All exhibitions, workshops and events at the Gallery are free and all are welcome.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said, “In order for the local community to get the most from the Gallery, the Glynn Vivian is setting up workshops and fun things to do for all the family.”
“Over the next few months there will be a range of diverse events such as film screenings and live acoustic bands. Whatever your interests, you will find something fresh and exciting going on”
