On June 9th 2009 Cameron Grey and Fone Home Entertainment released the Hip Hop Kid Vol. 1 mixtape. This August has proven to be a great month so far with just over 5,000 downloads and the total number is approaching the 10k mark. Fone Home Entertainment expects the numbers to gradually rise over the next few months as they are building the brand and getting in front of larger audiences.
We weren't able to sit down with Cameron Grey or Marshall Ryan (founder of Fone Home Ent and Camerons Manager) - but we were able to catch up with them via a conference call!
Marshall and Cameron both seemed to be very excited about the numbers so far. "We really thought we would see numbers like this earlier - but we knew it would take some time for people to catch on to what we were doing"
The one pressing question on the table was "What's next for Cameron Grey and Fone Home Entertainment!?"
And the answer could have been predicted: "We are talking with some labels right now and trying to work something out on the distribution side - but either way we are moving forward with our vision. We have been working with two new artists that were both featured on the EP - Big Jerm (http://www.myspace.com/
Word on the street is that Cameron Grey will probably be the next artist from Ohio to get national recognition. With artists like Kid Cudi and Chip tha Ripper up North - we are excited that someone is finally making some noise here in Central Ohio!
We also highly suggest checking out the Hip Hop Kid Vol. 1 mixtape - which can be downloaded here for free - no sign up necessary: http://www.sendspace.com/
