(OMAHA, Neb.) Had someone told Lori and David Scott a year ago they would be leading the seventh annual Walk to Defeat ALS™, they would have said “absolutely not.” They had already committed to several other very worthwhile events they were going to support and that was enough. But then life happened and things changed.
David Scott and Scott von Freiberg have been friends since fourth grade at Crestridge school. As adults they were business partners. But in March of 2008, Scott started having weakness in his arms. Two months after he noticed the symptoms, he was diagnosed with ALS.
And so this year, when The Keith Worthington chapter of ALS holds its seventh annual Walk to Defeat ALS™ on Saturday, August 22, 2009, Lori and David will be walking along side their friend Scott.
The Walk will be held at Elmwood Park with registration, live music and games beginning at 9:00 a.m. The walk is at 10:00 a.m. and a picnic lunch will follow. Mulberry Lane will be on hand to sing The Star Spangled Banner just before the walk begins. The walk site is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Individuals are not required to walk any or the entire route in order to participate. Those persons interested in participating in the walk can go online at www.walktodefeatals.org
