John L. Watkins, a business litigator and shareholder of the firm, started the series. Watkins explained, "Our firm has a lot of experience addressing legal issues faced by many businesses, but particularly by small and medium-sized businesses and international businesses. Our lawyers have always been active in giving presentations to business groups, and podcasting is a natural extension of those efforts. Podcasting allows us to serve the business community by providing information on legal issues they may be facing, and to connect with people who may not know us. Having the series available at the iTunes Store really extends those efforts."
The firm's podcasts include a three-part series on trade secrets and non-disclosure agreements and a three-part series on mediation. "Interestingly, the most popular podcast so far is on common legal mistakes small businesses make and how to avoid them," Watkins said. Other podcasts include an on-going series on common legal mistakes international companies make in doing business in the U.S. and steps to take in the event of litigation.
