In the current economic climate, maintaining and developing current skills and learning new ones are vital. CADline, the leading provider of AutoCAD software and AutoCAD training, is encouraging architects, engineers and designers to participate in the Autodesk Assistance Program, in a bid to boost marketability and employability.
The number of unemployed people in the UK reached two million earlier this year and while more specific official figures are unknown in fields such as architecture, engineering and design, many working in these industries found their jobs and their careers hanging in the balance. Indeed, the Director of Scotland’s National Centre for Architecture and Design predicted that around 50 per-cent of the country’s architects were either unemployed or facing unemployment.
However, with analysts predicting the increase in unemployment set to slow down next year, now is the time for those wishing to become more marketable to gain a range of new skills and techniques and to update their knowledge base.
The Autodesk Assistance Program provides design software tools, education and resources to help redundant professionals enhance and progress their 3D design technology abilities, improving their employability in the current economic climate. The program consists of free online training, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in addition to free access to Autodesk University Online, a catalogue of more than 1,000 sessions and handouts. The program also provides reduced cost classroom training. However, it seems that the experts at Autodesk have also included a free software term licence for students, allowing engineers, designers and architects of the future to experience the latest product releases, free online training plus reduced-cost formal training and certification.
Debi Peppin, Director of CADline, said, “The Autodesk Assistance Program not only makes participants more marketable but also allows for a great deal of personal and professional development, allowing those taking part to refine their skills and learn new techniques. Participants will have access to a variety of Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and AutoCAD Map 3D, to name a few. CADline is pleased to offer this program to talented engineers, architects and designers who have fallen victim to the recession.”
Participants will have access to a variety of Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, Inventor, Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and AutoCAD Map 3D. Enrolment in the Autodesk Assistance Program and software downloads are available until March 31st 2010. However, eligibility requirements are in place. Applicants must be currently unemployed but must have previously worked in the architecture, engineering, design or manufacturing industries. An online application must be completed, which includes the submission of personal contact information. Applicants are also required to specify the date of departure from their former employer, the employer name and HR contact information, and must be able to self-certify that they meet these eligibility requirements.
