It can be an absolute nightmare finding that perfect name for your dog. However, when American film director decided in his latest film, to call a dog Anwar Sadat, after the late Egyptian president, he ended up with a bigger dog fight than he could handle.
The dog was so named because it resembled the late Egyptian president, said one of the characters. Sadat was shot and killed by Islamic militants during a military parade in Cairo in 1981. Sadat was Egypt’s political and military leader.
Demanding that all copies of the offensive film be seized, Sadat’s daughter says the romantic comedy film ‘I Love You Man’, should be immediately removed from all local theatres.
She is suing the producer of the film, the actors and the company which distributed the film in Egypt. She has also filed a complaint against the Egyptian Minister of Information, Anas el-Fiqqi, for allowing the film to be released in Egypt. “The film is insulting to the memory of my father. It undermines Egypt and its leading rule in the Middle East,” says Rukiya Sadat.
Search engines on the Internet are hit more frequently for naming a dog, than any other subject. It is a really good idea to speak aloud a name to see if it fits. It is important also to make sure the name does not fall into the area of being insult to anyone else.
If you are running short of ideas for a name here are a few suggestions. You could try Mister Bubbles, or Bruiser? To add even more confusion you could try naming your dog similar to one of your children, such as Moose, if your son is named Bruce.
There are of course dog movie stars such as Lassie and Beethoven, but you could consider calling your dog Brad, Marilyn, or Schwarzeneger, or is that Tinkerbell? You could also try names like Hitler, Genghis, or Nero.
A recent guest at a hotel picked up a stray and called the black and white mutt Pompom. "No Pompom, No Pompom," was heard all day long. A dog inherited from a gardener was called Police, so the police were frequently called in that neighbourhood.
It is important you choose a name that will suit for the length of your dog’s life, for it is hard to change the name of a dog. If you don’t want to end up like the American film director in a dog fight and have an entire nation against you, it is important not to call your dog by the name of a president.
