Learning music the natural way is important for young children. They hear and remember music pitches, rhythm patterns, and harmonies in much the same way as they learn to walk and talk. The goal of the Yamaha Music School is to nurture children’s creativity and unlike conventional music classes, it does not emphasize memorization and technical practice. Instead the classes are designed to develop a child’s musical skills such as aural ability, sense of pitch, rhythm, and harmony.
The Junior Music Course, for children ages four and five, and the Young Musicians Course for children ages six through eight, will both be offered starting in September. Both courses are taught as a group style class by a certified Yamaha instructor. Group instruction allows children to learn from one another and encourages the sense of artistic discipline that music requires. Children will experience singing, music reading and writing, playing the keyboard, ear training, and creating music.
Registration for classes is currently in progress. For more information about the different courses, call Freehold Music Center or visit the website at www.freeholdmusic.com
