The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (www.caaf.org) launches the 2009 Dream Halloween® season with national spokesperson Jamie Lee Curtis and the addition of national sports champion, Candice Wiggins who will lead the “Dream Game” tip-off event on September 11, 2009 when the Minnesota Lynx play the LA Sparks. Dream Halloween® – a multi-faceted fundraising and awareness campaign – aims to bring needed attention to both the domestic and international pediatric AIDS epidemic.

The campaign focuses on the fun and excitement of the Halloween holiday to raise attention for the millions of children worldwide that have been infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.  It is supported nationally by Toys“R”Us, Inc., Disney Consumer Products, Mattel, Inc., Barbie™ Rocks, Discovery Bay Games, and media partners, American Baby and Parents magazines.  Jamie Lee Curtis stars in a Public Service Announcement that will air across the country and is available to view at www.caaf.org.

“More than 15 million children worldwide have been orphaned due to AIDS. This campaign helps to provide the funding necessary to support these children and offer them a full and productive life,” said Jamie Lee Curtis, Dream Halloween® spokesperson.  “This fall, the nation is invited to join the campaign and help us to change these children’s lives, one dream at a time.”

The “Dream Game” will be televised on Fox Sports. To support the cause both team coaches will wear Foundation lapel pins and Candice Wiggins will wear custom-designed sneakers that will later be auctioned to benefit the Foundation. The LA Sparks will incorporate strategies pre-game and during the game to provide funds for CAAF.

For even the littlest fan, Toys“R”Us, Inc. and Disney Consumer Products collaborated on an exclusive line of specially-designed children’s Halloween costumes available at Toys“R”Us, Babies“R”Us stores and online at www.toysrus.com/ExclusiveCostumes.  In conjunction with this costume offering, Toys“R”Us, Inc. and Disney Consumer Products have together donated $50,000 to help the Foundation’s mission.

Additionally, five percent (5%) of the proceeds from Barbie™ Rocks by Layna and Alan Friedman jewelry sales worldwide will be donated to CAAF.

This fall will also offer a combination of activities related to Dream Halloween, including Dream Halloween events in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, in-store items for purchase, a Halloween “e-card” promotion, a text campaign and other activities via the organization’s Web site, MySpace and Facebook pages.

Since 1993, the Foundation has raised more than $33 million through its nationally recognized Dream Halloween season.  To contribute directly, text the word DREAM to 90999 in order to donate $5 to the Foundation and to learn more or get involved, visit www.caaf.org

About the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation
