Crown Worldwide Group Aids Hiv Positive Children

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 17, 2009 - PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA—The Crown Worldwide Group, a worldwide leader of global mobility, moving services, relocation services, document management, art shipping and logistics transportation, announced the opening of the second school funded by Crown, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The school will be attended by 3,000 children, aged 6 to 16 years old, and integrates over 100 HIV positive and orphan children. Most schools in Cambodia do not accept HIV positive children.
On June 1, 2009, the opening ceremony was officiated by the governor of Phnom Penh, Kep Chuk Tema. Crown Chairman, Jim Thompson, attended, along with 1,200 teachers, students and their families.
Thompson encouraged the students to work hard so that they, too, could one day help Cambodia become a stronger country. "The appreciation shown by all the families has encouraged us to provide humanitarian aid in Cambodia. We will begin research for another project to help these needy and gracious children," said Jim. To acknowledge her hard work on this project, the building was dedicated to Thompson's wife, Sally, and has a sign featuring its name, "Sally Thompson Building."
In 2007, Crown completed its first project, the Proa Chum School building project located two hours from Phnom Penh, providing for 1,000 children. Both projects support the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goal to promote health and educational programs to help children in underserved communities.
