Leawood, Kan. – What if a woman’s husband dies, and she’s never been involved with financial planning, asset allocation, insurance policies, or even informed about their holdings? Unfortunately, this realistic scenario places many women in a difficult bind when they find themselves alone and solely responsible for their family’s financial wellbeing. The Boomer Market Advisor (August 2009) reported that women age 65 are expected to live an additional 20 years – four years longer than men.
“As women assume sole control of household finances, which men often control for years, it is important that women have easy access to important documents and investing information,”
In response, Women’s Only Financial will host monthly Financial Peace of Mind Summit, beginning in September 2009. Monthly Financial Peace of Mind Summit sessions will focus on empowering women to understand their current and future financial goals. As the summit progresses, women will build a Financial Peace of Mind binder containing all essential documents regarding assets, insurance policies, and important names, contact information and account numbers.
“Our goal is to provide an accessible, tangible summary of all assets that, if necessary, a financial advisor or family member could look at and immediately know appropriate steps to take,” said Hoover. “The information complied will help not only investors, but beneficiaries as well, who are often not aware of holdings until they are inherited.”
Financial Peace of Mind Summit sessions will take place monthly, and each session will cover an important document to add to the comprehensive financial binder. Documents covered within the sessions will include the following: wills, trusts, power of attorneys, past tax returns, brokerage statements, life insurance policies, long-term care policies, IRA statements, and a short summary of all assets.
“Women’s Only Financial encourages women to prepare for life’s ‘what if’ situations,”
