New Organization Launched – The American Small Business Partnership

Non-partisan group formed to promote small business; fight nationalized healthcare and energy policies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 17, 2009 -
Louisville, Ky. – A new, non-partisan organization was formed in Louisville, Kentucky recently; the American Small Business Partnership (ASBP) is committed to promoting the economic conditions that foster the growth of small businesses nationwide. This alliance of small business owners, employees, and concerned citizens are dedicated to providing tools and resources to fight government-run healthcare and global warming legislation that threatens the nation’s economy and kills jobs.

Part of the organization’s strategy is to empower small business owners to let their voices be heard through rallies, town hall meetings, national petitions, and reaching out to key members of Congress, including the Blue Dog Democrats, who will play a vital role in these two pieces of legislation being passed.

ASBP spokesman Hollis Smith stated, “We’re a non-partisan group not affiliated with any political party. We organized because there is a tremendous number or people who are alarmed at how the current Healthcare reform proposals and the global warming bill under consideration by Congress could affect our businesses and our employees.”

“Instead of ramming this legislation through Congress like the stimulus package,” Smith continued, “the ASBP is encouraging Congress to slow down so we can have a civil discussion on how to create smart, meaningful legislation that doesn’t hurt the small business owner and the American economy overall.”

According to the SBA Office of Advocacy, small businesses (fewer than 500 employees) employ about half of all private-sector employees, and have generated 60 to 80 percent of net new jobs annually over the last decade. The ASBP, a grass-roots organization, encourages community leaders to create local chapters by developing a web site, blog, or Facebook page as a focal point to rally members in your area and communicate local action items.
