Lafayette, LA: Attention tout les chiens en Lafayette…les bon temps sont arrivé! The city’s new premiere Doggy Day and Overnight Camp, Camp Bow Wow, 114 Eunice Street in Lafayette, will open its doors to canine campers on Saturday, August 22. Now pups can socialize all day at an upscale camp designed to meet their every need while their parents are at work, enjoying a local festival, or out-of-town on vacation. Campers at Camp Bow Wow are free to interact with Camp counselors and other dogs throughout the day: they can play inside or venture outside to play in a fenced area outfitted with doggy playground equipment, shade structures and special doggy pools. When it opens, Camp Bow Wow Lafayette will hold the distinction of being the One HOUNDredth Camp Bow Wow to open in North America.

Interested puppy parents can look in on the activities in the play yards by logging on to the Camp’s website to view the real-time footage broadcast by the many Camper Cams® cameras mounted throughout the play yards. Camp Bow Wow Lafayette will be working with local humane organizations to foster and adopt out dogs. Camp Bow Wow’s fees are all-inclusive.
After a full day of play, day campers head home for the evening tired and ready to relax. Overnight campers retire to one of the Camp’s 45 spacious, private, climate-controlled cabins for dinner and a rest. All cabins are furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets and are large enough to accommodate two pups from the same family if their guardian wants them to stay together. The pups enjoy a special campfire treat before being lulled to sleep with classical music. To avoid upset stomachs, parents of overnight campers are encouraged to bring their pup’s food from home.
A nurturing person at heart, Tardo has always been passionate about dogs. A Registered Nurse and former teacher, she currently has 5 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats at home. When her husband passed away in 2006, she realized that life is too short not to do something you really love and began researching opportunities in the pet industry. The Camp Bow Wow philosophy appealed to her and the organization assured her that she’d have the support she needs to make her camp a success. Camp Bow Wow Lafayette will be a family affair with Tardo’s daughter-in-
