The education on the cold chain in Nicaragua was a success! Brian Beazer, General Manager of Winchester Cold Storage, lectured in Nicaragua this June at the Universidad Centroamericana – UCA (Managua, Nicaragua).
Beazer attended this event in participation with the GCCA “Global Cold Chain Alliance” and the USDA “United States Department of Agriculture”
During his stay, he gave three courses on Cold Storage Operations, which included: Introduction to Cold Storage Operations, Innovations and Best Practices with Cold Storage Technology, and Employee Preparation and Risk Management.
The general objective of these lectures was to provide a comprehensive overview of the cold chain in the food industry, its importance, sensitivity and special requirements for the perishable products. The courses covered all of the refrigerated warehouse functions that should be address to ensure a safe, efficient and financially sound work environment. They also focused on the establishment of standards for basic operations.
The curriculum provided attendees the unique opportunity to refine the techniques and procedures in their own warehouses.
All speakers were national and international cold chain experts with years of experience in their field. They are an invaluable resource to members of the cold chain community.
Those in attendance were supervisors, area managers, operations managers, food service managers, refrigerated warehouse managers, senior level supervisors, and others who are directly involved with the day to day handling, storage and general operations of perishable products.
