Pinoy Answers, a free online question and answer service, is the new feature of Noypf, contributing to its increasing number of Filipino web applications.
As a response to the increasing demand for an online local Filipino question and answer service, Noypf designed a beta application early this year that enables members to ask questions and give answers to others. Members can write their questions and their answers in English or Filipino language, as long as the content is catering to the Filipino people. The beta version of the web app also allows members to categorize their questions, add comments to them, and select the best answer based on its perceived relevancy, creating an interactive and community spirit within the application.
The beta web application initially contained the categories for Relationships, Heath and Fitness, Beauty and Fashion, Education, and Money but later on added fifteen more categories, as member contribution is expected to grow aggressively with the participation of students from different regions in the Philippines. During the beta, Noypf improved the search functionality with algorithm enhancements and added folksonomy features in the form of user tags.
After several months of beta stage, Noypf released the full feature Pinoy Answers this month to the general public and made it available to all registered members for free.
The initial response of the members has been positive and optimistic. According to lead members, the feedback is completely encouraging and inspires them to add new features and web applications that will give the Filipino people a more personal experience of the web.
