The company’s owner reports that “this sort of commitment is huge for a small business like ours in these tough economic times, not only are we donating a portion of our profits but we’ve also had to take a hard look at our own product line and eleminate some best sellers.”  Hence Laguna Candles, http://www.lagunacandles.com, has had to eliminate one quarter of their , already paid for, inventory that wasn’t Soy wax or 100% Bees wax.

“Every Paraffin wax candle in our inventory must be properly disposed of”, added the inventory control manager.   "This is a positive shift for us”, continued Sharie. Laguna Candles wants to make a positive impact and bring awareness to the fact that world-wide millions of households are still burning candles that contain Paraffin, an inexpensive sludge waste product of the petroleum industry that has been bleached and texturized with acrolyn, a known carcinogenic product.

“Once these types of candles are burned they release toxins such as benzene and toluene which are inhaled and can linger in areas where burned”  comments marketing director Clarence Hendricks, “these candles are as dangerous to the lungs as second-hand smoke and it’s a non-renewable resource,”  adds Clarence.
 
“Laguna Candles was founded on the concept of eco-friendly products and clean burning candles that would not harm the environment or the home.  Based on the extensive research we did on things that could cause cancer, we realized that Paraffin candles with lead wicks were toxic to the environment.  Soy and 100% Bees Wax candles were the only choice for us and we wanted to hold true to the concept of a green company as we establish our brand and become one of the premiere candle companies”, adds Sharie Hendricks.
