An initiative in the United Kingdom has brought together hospitals that have vacant beds and theatres, surgeons who are looking for full lists to operate and patients looking for quality cosmetic, and obesity surgery at an affordable price.
In the most recent instance, a Canadian lady based in the UAE was researching cosmetic treatment in India, Thailand and Eastern Europe, but was deterred by the lack of visibility to the credentials of the hospitals and surgeons. Ms E was given a telephone consultation with the surgeon in Preston, just as she had had with the surgeons in Mumbai, Kerala and Lahore. She arrived from Dubai on 7th Aug and had a final pre-operative consultation the following morning with her surgeon. Ms E was riding a risk of going through the expense of travel and wasted time, but comforted by the fact that she was in responsible hands. Ms E is presently recuperating in the nearby Lake District, which is a welcome reprieve from soaring temperatures in the Emirates and the scenery a sight for sore eyes!
