Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, UK, August 2009 – Jade Communications, one of the UK’s leading providers of mobile voice and data communications technologies for business, has launched a free wireless security assessment for retail, warehousing, healthcare, educational and service environments.

“With widespread adoption of wireless networks, the introduction of PCI DSS guidelines and recent high profile data security breaches, it has become extremely important for organisations to safeguard data and secure their wireless LANs,” says Mark Brackley, managing director of Jade Communications. “Our Wi-Fi security assessment is a simple and highly effective step towards ensuring PCI DSS compliance and enterprise wireless security”.

Best practices such as using the WPA-PSK encryption, regular changing of authentication keys and RF shielding have made wireless networks more secure, but there are still simple ways to bypass these security standards.

Offered free to the first 50 applicants Jade’s wireless security assessment scans a wireless network without compromising its security and will show any rogue stations trying to connect, unauthorised access points plugged in to the network and any security and configuration issues that could be compromising wireless security. Jade will compile a report highlighting any potential issues and outlining its initial recommendations as part of a service normally costing £375.
