The agreement comes as the continuation of a long-term relationship between the three companies. Until recently, it covered sales of gas pipe and fittings only, but earlier this year Connect announced plans to add water operations to their existing portfolio of gas and electric connections. Wolseley UK and GPS successfully entered and won a competitive tender for this new business, positioning themselves as the first incumbent supplier for all Connect’s gas and water PE pipes and fittings requirements.
Connect Utilities are renowned for the standard of service they offer, especially in the gas business where they undertake over 40% of all new build connections. The fact that GPS's products have been chosen through a rigorous procurement process is testament to their quality and design. Overall, GPS's products were considered the best and most cost effective solution to suit Connect’s needs, however, it is the GPS commitment to building a genuine partnership that was regarded as being of utmost important in this decision.
There is an unrivalled range of fittings, sizes and jointing methods available to GPS users including its award winning Protecta-Line, the original barrier pipe for brownfield and contaminated land and the new Excel 3c (PE100) pipe, the unique, DWI recognised solution to negate the need for the lengthy pipe pre-chlorination process prior to installation of potable water pipes.
Welcoming the news, Dom West, Sales Director of GPS PE Pipe Systems, said: "I am delighted that we have been chosen to be an integral part of Connect’s business. We will continue strengthening our partnership and use our unrivalled technical expertise, product innovation strategy and premier service to support Connect's growth now and far into the future.”
