Charlotte, N.C. – Diagnostic Devices, Inc. (DDI), a leading provider of audible blood glucose monitoring systems, has announced the addition of Mooresville engineer and inventor John Rizzo to the Prodigy® products family.

Rizzo, the 52-year-old president of the Inventors Network of the Carolinas and consultant to Fortune 500 companies, joins DDI at a time the global, Charlotte-based company is relocating manufacturing operations from Southeast Asia back to North Carolina.

“We picked Mr. Rizzo to come on board with us and join the Prodigy® family because of his lengthy experience in design and engineering,” said DDI President Ramzi Abulhaj. “We know he will contribute to the development of the many new and exciting products that we have in development.”

Rizzo’s talents were featured in the February edition of Lake Norman Magazine. Rizzo brings his skill, experience and education to work helping DDI’s customers to live well with diabetes.

Rizzo has worked on a wide range of products during his career, from high-tech laser weapons systems for the military to creating innovative household electronics. He’s created products including a stud-finding device for construction and an infrared pool filtration cleaning system. Rizzo also is president of Inventive Technologies, a consulting firm specializing in electronics product development that he founded in 1986.

During three decades in engineering, Rizzo compiled a wealth of experience in medical device design and manufacturing, including extensive work in thermal ablation, trans-cranial electromagnetic stimulation and physical therapy devices.

Rizzo said he looks forward to bringing his experience and his innovative problem-solving skills to work for the Prodigy® family of blood glucose monitoring systems – and other products now in development at DDI.

“I’m very excited to push the design cycle and get our products out,” said Rizzo, a native of New York. “DDI has already experienced a great deal of growth with the Prodigy® line of blood glucose meters. But the real explosion of growth will come as we multiply the products in our portfolio. And I think we’re well positioned to meet those goals.”
