WITV’s “Caribbean Girl” premieres with Pioneering Caribbean Entertainer

In a quest to offer high quality online programming, WITV West Indian TV the Caribbean’s first online TV station dedicated to Caribbean Culture, adds yet another substance filled show to its line up. Another first in the region is "Caribbean Girl"

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 11, 2009 - In their never ending quest to offer high quality online programming, WITV West Indian TV the Caribbean’s first online TV station dedicated to Caribbean Culture, adds yet another substance filled show to its line up. Another first in the region is “Caribbean Girl” a show for Caribbean women about Caribbean women which premiers with celebrity guest and Caribbean Girl extraordinaire Ms. Denise Plummer on www.ideainterct.com , www.westindianculture.com www.witv.yolasite.com and www.witv.bravehost.com on Thursday 13th August, 2009 at 8:00pm est.

The show came to together out of a need to share Caribbean womens’ stories which are intrinsically unique from other cultural framed her stories. Caribbean girl explores the girl in every woman. Its delves into the history of a woman’s personality from that moment she became aware of her femininity, the very experiences that have shaped, transformed and inspired her to be the woman she is today. The show is the brainchild of its host Kele Ransome who shared her concept for the show “On this journey we look at women in varied professions, highlighting their triumph over social, cultural and political hardship to become designers and owners of their destiny. Moving through their unique spaces within this multicultural framework that is the Caribbean lifestyle helps to inspire, encourage and raise the consciousness of women everywhere”.

Upcoming shows would share the stories of other talented, unique and strong women who’s her stories ranged from overcoming child abuse, prejudice, substance abuse obesity and other issues that women experience. The Caribbean girl experience affects everyone in the Caribbean as we all have mothers, sisters, nieces, aunts and grandmothers. Other celebrity guest for the season would include, Nehillet Blackman, Lisa Allen-Agostini and Knycky Cordner and women from other Caribbean Islands living in Trinidad & Tobago.

“Caribbean Girl” hopes to the follow in the same vein as WITV’s other hit shows Caribbean Cultural Riddums and Indo Caribbean Riddums. For July 2009 the stations have received approximately 360,000+ visitors making it the number one hub for Caribbean entertainment. The channel was originally hosted on www.westindianculture.com whose stats for the past 12moths have been 2.6+ million hits of which 20% were from Trinidad & Tobago, 10% from other Caribbean Countries, and 70% percentage from all around the world. The television player is also carried by “What’s up TV” which forms part of the North American “Ning network”. The stats received from the Ning network states that they have a monthly average of over 30 million visitors.
