Why Isn't This Big News?

A letter signed by 22 House co-sponsors is being sent this week to President Obama asking him and his quintessentially “global” First Family to lead the world in celebrating Globalfamily Day on January 1st, 2010.

Aug. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON D.C.- Representatives Jesse Jackson Jr., Eleanor Holmes Norton, Donald Payne, Sheila Jackson Lee, Jerrold Nadler, and Janice Schakowsky are among the co-sponsors inviting President Obama to head this initiative.  Senate sponsors are expected to take action as well.

Falling on every January 1st, Globalfamily Day, or One Day Of Peace and Sharing, is a 48 hour period where all races, religions, and cultures are urged to break bread, pledge non-violence, and ring a bell or beat a drum in pursuit of human unity.

This holiday was co-founded by the best-selling author and D.C. Mother of the Year ‘02-‘03 Linda Grover. "Globalfamily Day is the quickest way, short of alien attack, to unify our world in time to solve mounting global crises." she says, fresh from a meeting  to coordinate a new diplomatic committee of ambassadors supporting Globalfamily Day.

Ms. Grover has been working tirelessly for over 10 years to see the world step up to the plate and utilize this powerful and supremely practical tool to reduce hate and hunger, both locally and globally; a tool that sets up natural collaboration among families, governments, faith groups, and organizations around the world to save the day in the areas of: global warming, energy crises, economic recessions, epidemics, nuclear threats, education issues, genocide, etc.

Globalfamily Day has been endorsed by ambassadors representing ¾ of the world population, sitting heads of state in 28 countries, and 19 different religions; resolutions adopting the January 1 observance have passed through the U.N. General Assembly once and the U.S. Congress twice. Now, why have you never heard of it?

Because for the last eight years, this initiative has gotten almost ZERO media attention. But, times have changed. Zbigniew Brzezinski, former national Security Advisory, has said that what President Obama is attempting what can be called “no less than a reconciliation of civilizations.”

Ms. Grover has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and it is her dearest and greatest wish is to see our new, international relations-minded President ring the Globalfamily Day Bell on New Year’s Day, in pursuit of greater peace and sharing. What better way to show the rest of the world we Americans are ready for that reconciliation?
