Genre Film Partners is offering a free seminar “How to Write a Screenplay,”
hosted by Julie Richardson on Wednesday, August 19. Ms. Richardson developed and produced the box office sensation COLLATERAL, starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx which received two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations as well as many others. The seminar is open to the first 100 people to sign up with the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Always wanted to write a screenplay? Here’s your introduction. Pulling from her experience of working with Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption), Stuart Beattie (Collateral)
, Tim Sexton (Children of Men), as well as numerous first time writers, Ms. Richardson covers the basic aspects of concept, story and structure. Among those, components such as dynamic scenes, a strong narrative engine and compelling characters will be examined. Ms. Richardson will highlight how to avoid common pitfalls and imbue your story with emotional and dramatic weight.
