Executive management at triVector, a specialised national provider of next-generation Business Process Management and Enterprise Architecture solutions, has reiterated the importance of corporate social investment as a means by which South Africans can help absorb the impact of global financial difficulty and manage its influence on local socio-economic development.
Mike Steyn, Director at triVector, said the company continues to apply its strategy of using opportunities to demonstrate the value of corporate social responsibility and how BPM and related technology can make a difference to life both inside and outside the boardroom.
The Gauteng-based company has participated in a number of social awareness projects and initiated several campaigns aimed at meeting immediate, short-term needs of communities and individuals, as well as a long-term objective of establishing resources and contributing significantly to the sustainability of these resources.
The company has established itself as a partner to the SA Cares for Life (www.sacares.co.za)
The project is the Retshogofaditswe (translated means “We are blessed”) Early Learning Centre. This haven provides pre-school children with safety, love, nutrition and an opportunity for development while their parents are out earning a living or seeking employment.
Employees from triVector have, over an extended period, consistently donated equipment, from toys to clothes, for the children and also sponsored equipment such as chairs, desks and cupboards for use by the teachers. Employees have also given of their time to assist with tasks such as the painting of the building, putting up curtain rails and more.
“This proactive approach to corporate investment shows how, practically, donations make a critical difference to the day-to-day operation of community organisations. Whilst we certainly advocate that companies remain focused on their core strengths and operations, we do believe that corporate social responsibility is much more than merely ticking off an item on the ‘to do’ list for businesses in South Africa. It is paramount to the overall sustainability of infrastructure, resources and foundations of our society,” says Steyn.
Staff at triVector have made a concerted effort to equip organisations, like Retshogofaditswe, with the resources to ensure that those in need are cared for.
The most recent example of this was a ‘blanket run’ organised by the company which involved a collective effort of staff and partners which culminated in several motorbikes, cars and trailors packed with blankets, food parcels and other treats heading off to the Learning centre.
“It was a great day and it meant a lot to the children and staff at the Centre, and it meant just as much to our staff,” adds Steyn. “We believe our strategy with this social investment will continue to bear fruit.”
