As buildings are going green, building materials are advancing in terms of strength, durability, longevity and environmental friendliness. With scientists and engineers improving the properties and applying "high performance"
Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd. (NAMI), co-organizing with Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will conduct a symposium titled "Dare to Find New Ways - Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials for Buildings and Infrastructures in the 21st century" on August 21, 2009 (Friday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The forum provides participants a platform where academics, business professionals, and end users from building industry can exchange their views on the latest material development and their applications. Towards more sustainable structural designs, the emerging challenges and need for new materials will also be discussed.
Speakers include Professor Zongjin Li, a Professor from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the chief scientist appointed by China's Ministry of Science and Technology on Concrete Development;
Along with presentations, technology showcase and focus groups are arranged to provide our participants the knowledge and resources that a growing number of industry professionals have only recently begun manifesting.
