Salt Lake City, UT – After a long litigation process, a Utah nurse has received a large settlement for her case. Samantha had sustained serious injuries in a Utah commercial truck accident along Interstate 15 in the summer of 2007, leaving her unable to work for months and with mounting medical bills.
The accident occurred in the midst of the Milford Flat fire, which had burned more than 350,000 acres that summer. The smoke and dust from the fire created dangerous driving conditions. With limited visibility, Samantha was forced to gradually slow her vehicle on the southbound lanes of I-15. As she came to a stop, a tractor trailer slammed into the back of her vehicle.
“Samantha suffered many horrific injuries,” said Kenneth Christensen, her attorney. “She sustained a three inch laceration through her muscle and into the bone of the left arm. Fortunately, a bystander created a makeshift tourniquet and applied pressure to the wound to help stop the bleeding. She also suffered terrible injuries to her neck, back, and entire left side of her body. A pelvic fracture required her to stay in bed for eight weeks.”
Samantha was immediately transported to Fillmore Hospital, but her injuries necessitated a life-flight to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where she remained as an in-patient for three days. She endured a slow and painful recovery, through months of physical therapy and bed rest. Although she has made substantial progress, her injuries will remain with her for quite a while.
Concerned with the inevitable medical bills and lost wages resulting from the accident, Samantha decided to seek legal representation from Utah personal injury lawyer Kenneth Christensen for her accident case. Mr. Christensen, founder of the Christensen Law Firm, believes this was the right decision.
“In Utah trucking cases, the federal trucking regulations require truck drivers to keep certain documents about their hours of operations and the truck’s conditions. Since she contacted the firm immediately, we were able to preserve this important information.”
This evidence aided her case and Mr. Christensen was able to ensure she received a full and just settlement. With this settlement, Samantha has been able to take her mind off of the stress of medical bills and economic worries, and focus on her continued recovery.
