Aug. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Visitors to ABB's stand (663) at this year's Offshore Europe exhibition will see a comprehensive selection of ABB’s latest products for both surface and sub-surface applications, including several new developments. The stand will show how these products can be used either standalone or as part of integrated systems delivering total automation, safety, telecommunications, electrical and power capabilities within an offshore environment.

Equipment on display will include examples from across ABB’s portfolio of products for automation, control and safety; drives and motors; low voltage products and systems, and instrumentation. The stand will also feature ABB’s full range of power and automation services for offshore applications, including its specialist Engineering Services team.

“ABB’s stand is a must-see for anyone interested in finding out how they could benefit from the latest developments in oil and gas offshore technology,” says Nick Lamming, General Manager, Process Automation Systems Division, ABB Limited. “We will be using the show to demonstrate the exciting possibilities on offer from ABB to help operators optimize the performance of their production plant and processes.”

A key feature of the stand will be ABB’s System 800xA advanced process control system. The system offers a comprehensive range of control functions as well as the ability for offshore operators to gather and integrate management information for improving the efficiency and productivity of their facilities.

Also on display will be ABB’s latest SIL3 rated safety system. Based on over 30 years experience, the  system offers a wealth of features aimed at ensuring the total safety of processes and operatives.

ABB’s medium voltage drives business will be using the show to introduce the new ACS2000 air-cooled general purpose AC drive. The ACS2000 provides simple and reliable motor control for a wide range of applications within the oil & gas sector such as pumps, fans and compressors. It is designed for easy installation, fast commissioning and efficient maintenance, reducing the total cost of ownership.

Also on display will be examples of ABB’s low voltage AC motors for hazardous areas. Suitable for variable speed drives, these motors comply with all the relevant standards and protection types used in the oil and gas industry.

Visitors will be able to learn how ABB’s drives and motors can help them achieve the highest levels of reliability, availability and efficiency, resulting in energy savings of up to 50%, reduced CO2 emissions and greatly reduced maintenance costs. ABB representatives will explain how these benefits can be further enhanced where ABB takes single source responsibility for complete drive systems; encompassing everything from installation through to safety standards compliance.

Also on display will be ABB’s MNS 3.0 range of fully type-tested modular Motor Control Centres. The latest design features a rear cable access solution up to Form 4 Type 7  together with a fully type tested Busbar system and arc fault containment design to IEC 61641. The MNS 3.0 also offers withdrawable and fixed starter types with a range of intelligent and conventional control options.

ABB’s instrumentation business will be showing the latest examples of its Differential Pressure (DP) flow meters, widely used in oil and gas applications worldwide. Specific products from ABB’s DP flow range on show will be the new OriMaster and Torbar flowmeters, plus examples of its subsea meters.

Other products from ABB’s vast instrumentation range will include field devices for measuring and monitoring temperature and pressure, plus process recorders and controllers.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to discover ABB’s range of professional engineering services for complex and high hazard process industries. ABB has a team of engineering specialists with vast operational experience who can advise on the latest technical solutions that can help users transform the integrity and reliability of their production facilities.

Another main element of stand 663 will be ABB’s full range of power and automation services, enabling plant operators to maximize their productivity and minimize their lifecycle costs. ABB’s comprehensive portfolio of services encompasses everything from field service, support services and spare parts through to evolution planning, consulting and asset optimization.
