Courtney Loceff, 32 of Port Saint Lucie, FL has been creating bold and colorful psychedelic art for over 10 years. She moved up to the Treasure Coast town from Palm Beach county two years ago, and has been disappointed with the local art scene. “I love Florida, and I am proud of my native status – there is hardly a weekend that goes by where you won't find me and my family at the beach, but paintings pleasant beach scenes are just not art to me, it it seems like those scenes, as well as paintings of sailboats, fish and palm trees are all we have here!” says Loceff. “I think there needs to be a distinction between home furnishings, which is how I see the sailboat paintings and true visual art – which to me is the raw expression of feeling, thought and emotion through various forms and media”.
To that end, Ms. Loceff has announced an open call for artists to show their works at her online gallery, which is located at
http://www.courtneyloceff.com/gallery/ . “I am looking for likeminded artists who create cutting edge and colorful art - it does not matter to me if the art is abstract or photorealistic – I just want that the viewer can feel as well as see, and I just don’t feel that the many paintings of sailboats and sunsets that proliferate throughout the Treasure Coast Art scene meet that definition. Ms. Loceff plans on gathering a collection of artists not only in the Treasure Coast cities of Port St. Lucie, Stuart and Fort Peirce, but also the nearby larger cities of Orlando and West Palm Beach to show their works at her online gallery at her website of colorful art, located at
http://www.courtneyloceff.com/. The only requirement for artists that are interested are that they create art that is on the cutting edge, and that they are willing to show their work in person on the Treasure Coast in the future. “Showing work on the internet is a great way to get the word out about new art and new artists, but the eventual goal of my venture is to have an alternative art fair that will attract the general public to see what myself and like minded artists have to offer, and I am sure that once they see what we do, they will say goodbye to their pictures of sailboats and tropical fish”.
