PAXcam camera with PAXit! & PAXcamCONNECT Installation software
VILLA PARK, IL. – MIS, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of the newest PAXcam module, the PAXcam CONNECT. The PAXcam CONNECT module enables users to share live, high resolution video, streaming from a PAXcam camera connected to a microscope or macro lens, to an unlimited number of viewers within the local area network (LAN), or on the world-wide web. Beside the ability to view a live, high resolution image, users can capture images, and use simple graphics in communicating and highlighting features of interest or concern. Supported by the PAXit! image management software, images can also be measured during a PAXcam CONNECT session. The PAXcam CONNECT module enhances the PAXcam family offering from MIS, Inc., in providing an economical way to share live and still images in high resolution, where once expensive video conferencing systems were required.

This new tool replaces dedicated video conferencing solutions of years past, where two systems had to be purchased to enable the ability to communicate – and the system was limited to those two specific locations. PAXcam Connect allows a user to set up a meeting with contacts anywhere, as long as they have high speed internet access”.
The new PAXcam CONNECT is facilitated using a proprietary compression algorithm, created by MIS, Inc., a critical new tool which enables the ability to maintain high resolution – and real-time viewing - in live mode with no lag. “In developing the protocol, we concentrated on synchronizing the view between the sender and receiver,” explains Tom Vuke, VP of Imaging at MIS. “There is little value in a system that produces a consulting session where the receiver is lagging multiple seconds behind the sender. Effective consultation requires a discussion that pertains to the current view, and that view to be consistent on both sides of the stream.” Users wishing to establish a PAXcam CONNECT session will send out invitations via e-mail, which will allow invitees to download a free software viewer – and connect with the host at a pre-arranged time.
