World's first 2Tb 7200RPM HDD

Deskstar 7K2000 is the name of Hitachi's latest HDD boasting a capacity of 2Tb and 7200RPM platters. The Deskstar 7K2000 has just been launched and with it Hitachi sets new standards for the HDD market.

PR Log (Press Release) – Aug 06, 2009 – The Deskstar 7K2000 HDD has a 5 rotating platter design of Hitachi's own and uses PMR technology (perpendicular magnetic recording). The HDD is also quiet and power efficient so it can be buildt into Energy-Star rated computers. The power management technology utilized in the Deskstar 7K2000 includes Hitachi's own HiVERT(TM) or "Hitachi Voltage Efficiency Voltage Regulator".

The Deskstar 7K2000 HDD features a 32 Mb cache and uses the 3 Gb/s SATA interface and offers great usability in any system or raid configuration. Industry standard shock protection and TFC (thermal fly-height control) insures great reliability in the Deskstar 7K2000 HDD.
