Catalina Imaging donating mobile CT scanner to MedShare
On Wednesday, Aug. 5, MedShare shipped a mobile CT scanner to Zimbabwe. Catalina Imaging donated the mobile scanner to MedShare.
“We see the donation of this mobile CT scanner as a step to improving healthcare for many, and encourage other companies to contribute,”
The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation sponsored the shipment of the mobile scanner, and chose for MedShare to send it to Zimbawe, where currently there is only one working CT scanner in the country’s public health system. With this being a mobile CT scanner, it will be able to travel to rural areas of Zimbabwe where people have extremely limited access to medical care.
“This is the most substantial single medical equipment donation MedShare has received in its 10-year history. In a country like Zimbabwe, this kind of technology will make remarkable strides towards diagnosing important medical conditions,”
Located in San Leandro, MedShare recovers and redistributes surplus medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. Several Sacramento hospitals regularly donate their unused, unexpired surplus medical supplies to MedShare.
“We recently heard about MedShare and found them to be experts in international logistics and developing relationships with other companies and governments to make this project come together. We look forward to working with MedShare in the future,” said Carol Berreckman, COO at Catalina Imaging.
