TEFL pioneers i-to-i have today launched an exciting new package for budding ESL teachers: the ‘Teach English in Thailand Support Package’. As well as making sure aspiring teachers get the necessary qualifications to handle life in the classroom, i-to-i will help people start their TEFL career with a bang(kok) by setting them up with a fantastic, well-paid job in Thailand.* They’ll also receive a huge amount of support once they touch down in Bangkok, from sorting out accommodation and getting a tour of the city, right down to getting a SIM card and free Thai phrasebook, followed by ongoing personal support throughout their stay in Thailand.

There’s no need to have any teaching experience or the ability to speak Thai to get involved. Those taking part will be fully prepared for their time in the classroom by getting TEFL qualified. They take part in i-to-i’s world-leading 120 hour combined TEFL course, which includes a 40 hour Online Course, an additional 20 hours of online grammar study, eight essential specialist modules and the action-packed 20 hour Weekend Course. i-to-i are pioneers in online TEFL courses and our courses are internationally-recognised and quality checked by ODLQC.  Those taking part will also be set up with that all-important first job in Thailand*, and be paid a minimum of 27,500 Thai Baht (approximately £500**) per month. Due to the low cost of living in Thailand (and low tax rate of 6%), the equivalent salary in the UK would be a very respectable £25,000* per year.

Helping people get qualified and find a job is just the start of the incredible level of support i-to-i offers: teachers are met by a friendly face at the airport at the start of their time in Thailand, before being whisked away to a fantastic guesthouse for their three-day orientation. They’re shown some Thai hospitality at a welcome dinner, given advice on how to get the most out of their students and taken on a whirlwind tour of Bangkok. Comfy shared accommodation is all ready for teachers to move into after their time at the guesthouse. Plus, they’re given a free Thai phrasebook, Lonely Planet guide to Thailand, SIM card and top-up. i-to-i also offer support throughout the job application process and on-going personal support throughout their teaching contract, so if any mishaps occur there’s someone to turn to. Of course, potential teachers do not have to take up this fantastic support package – as long as people hold a 120 hour TEFL qualification, i-to-i will give them the school contact details for free so they can make their own arrangements.

Most of the positions available are in Bangkok and the surrounding suburbs – a fantastic place to live and work. A modern metropolis spinning around a serene, spiritual core, where there are ample opportunities to live the high life in glitzy bars and shopping malls, or experience traditional Thai culture while exploring famous temples and street-side restaurants. As teachers, those taking advantage of this fantastic opportunity will be welcomed into the heart of this energetic city and experience it from the perspective of someone actually living there.

The package costs from £795 and is risk free – if those taking part are not happy in the first seven days of signing up they’ll get their money back, no questions asked. The only requirements to take part are that the person holds a passport from a country whose native language is English, such as the UK, US or Australia and has a degree. There are 11 and 5 month contracts available, starting in October 2009, May 2010 and October 2010. For more information visit i-to-i’s website (http://www.onlinetefl.com/supported-teaching/teach-thaila...) or, for media enquiries, contact Honor Baldry at honor.baldry@i-to-i.com.

*Please note: potential teachers are not guaranteed to receive a job offer, and that i-to-i has no influence over the recruitment process. All recruitment decisions are made by the Thai job provider, who are a global operation with many contract positions in Thailand.

**Currency conversion accurate at time of publication. Final salary depends on the nature of the work, the location required to work and provided you meet the minimum experience, training and qualifications as set out in the placement description. i-to-i UK Limited is acting as an employment agency for the purposes of the job placement service.
