Biome Eco Friendly Store open for business in Brisbane

Biome Eco Store is the love child of Tracey Bailey, a mum and ex-corporate communications consultant, who “just wanted to do her bit”. Tracey has certainly done that and, amazingly, manages to do even more. “We have a little competition here to see how little we can send to landfill,” she says with a smile.  “Our ultimate aim is for an empty wheelie bin."

Tracey Bailey is a Toowong mother and eco-friendly Biome business founder who is showing the big retail chains what it really means to be green.

"We have learned so much on our six year journey with Biome eco stores. I've found that living green is a bumpy but immensely enriching road. We have taken wrong turns and been misdirected - yet, every day we unearth little gems, celebrate with our passionate producers and enjoy the sights with our conscious-living customers."

Recently opening her latest Biome Eco Store in Brisbane's CBD, she prides herself on its recycled tyre floor, gas ceiling lights and sustainable products on its shelves. With Biome Paddington having already made its mark, the new shop offers "green" products including hemp bed linen, green cleaning products, cloth nappies, natural baby supplies, bamboo homewares and recycled gifts.

"Its exciting to be shaking up the retail world and showing you can build a viable business that is ethical, socially responsible and genuinely gentle on the planet," Ms Bailey said.
