An Asian Commodity Hedge Dedicated To Finding Balance

If you want to hold commodities in your investment portfolio, what’s the best way?

Aug. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- In Asia wise men preach conservative action in heady times and bold action during crisis to enrich one’s account.  I sought such advice from a wise man in Singapore although he is not Asian.  Joseph Turner, head of fund research with the exclusive GHF Group spoke to me in his London office regarding positioning ones equity to gain the most significant advantage in the coming inevitable recovery.

“Commodities, commodities put your eggs in this one basket for outstanding returns in the next decade’, Mr. Turner literally yells at me.  “ The super cycle people believe that the Chinese and world demand for materials has only begun, add the largest stimulus package in history and you have yourself a perfect storm of commodities price explosions”.

Mr. Turner is no ordinary bull market preacher touting what many believe is the scarcest commodities inventories in history.  He correctly, and very profitably, forcast the massive gains in the last 10 years in commodities while others believed the conventional wisdom that commodities had peaked.

“Don’t forget, the amount of investment in new commodities mining, exploration and research is zero, ZERO”, he bellows and he is undeniably right.

The worst crisis since the depression forced companies to shutter further investments since these projects require massive funding from banks that are no longer lending.  Mr. Turner believes that this will create a massive deficit in the market as many of these projects cannot bear fruit for ten years or more.  Finding more of the minerals, oil and metals is not assured by any means.  Scarcity drives the market like no other force and Mr. Turner believes this will allow for incredible gains over the next decade to investors who correctly asses the market.

What can those of us who are not able to avail of Mr. Turner’s trading strategies, the GHF Group is private and very exclusive?

Do your research! Many funds have good records and low fees.  Contact an advisor that listens firstly to your investment objectives and can then provide low cost vehicles to achieve your goals.

The fund you choose isn’t just a bet on commodities, it’s a bet on a particular asset mix.  Letting a fund of fund managers spread your eggs around by investing in a few low cost commodities hedge funds is also advantageous to those wise investors seeking balance.
