Most people’s understanding of Ultra-violet (UV) light is limited to the effect that it has on the human skin and why they need to use a sunscreen when spending the day at the beach. What most people don’t know is that UV light is good for the environment and is used in everything from curing adhesives to sterilizing apple juice. And, there’s a company in north Idaho that manufactures industrial grade UV lamps for manufacturers worldwide. Albatross UV sees growth in its international business and has recently appointed Douglas Lawrence to Director of Marketing and Business Development. In this capacity, Douglas will be responsible for developing and implementing plans and strategies for growing domestic and international sales.
Douglas brings more than twenty years of sales and marketing experience to Albatross UV. He has a long track record of accomplishments beginning as a U.S. Navy helicopter aviation technician, to engineer, and then into marketing management with the General Electric Company. He has held similar management positions with Ericsson, Inc. based in Sweden and Micro-Enhancement International based in Spokane, Washington. Before joining Albatross UV, Douglas served on the Board of the Lawrence-Schell Foundation and Tradient Corporation. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University.
Albatross UV is recognized as a leading manufacturer and supplier of UV curing lamps to markets worldwide. Their product offerings include a wide range of standard UV curing lamps, metal halide, and electrode-less or microwave bulbs. All of their lamps are skillfully crafted in the USA and manufactured to exacting standards using only the highest quality materials available.
UV lamps are used in screen printing, graphic arts, CD & DVD replication, label printing, packaging, the manufacture of optical fibers, and the curing of a wide variety of adhesives and finishes in the furniture, cabinet, and auto making industry. They are also used in the medical field to sterilize equipment and instruments. In the food processing industry, UV is used to sterilize water, juices, dairy, and other food products. UV is used to cure most polymer-based inks, plastics, paints, and finishes and is preferred over solvent-based products because it emits much lower levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) which are harmful to humans and the environment. As the demand and commitment grows toward green products and environmental protection, so will the demand for UV light-cure technology.
Albatross UV will be exhibiting their extensive product line at the Specialty Graphics and Imaging Association’
